Minecraft Hour of AI

Join the movement to help the next generation shape the future of AI! We teamed up with Microsoft and Code.org to bring you a new coding and AI tutorial inspired by a classic Minecraft challenge. Anyone can play or host an Hour of AI lesson for free with Minecraft Education.

Can you survive the night?

In Hour of AI: The First Night, players solve coding puzzles in Minecraft with the help of AI. Program an AI Agent to craft tools and build shelter before dusk falls in this iconic challenge!

How to Play

Anyone can do an Hour of AI in Minecraft Education. Take the challenge with your students and try to survive the first night! The first step is making sure you have Minecraft Education downloaded.

If you have Minecraft Education already installed, launch the app, click the Hour of AI button, and choose a tutorial to play.  It’s faster than you can say “Creeper!” (Make sure you have the latest version of the app installed.)

If you don’t have Minecraft Education, download the app for free. Launch the app and click ‘Try a demo lesson’ to get to the Hour of AI tutorials. (If you have a Microsoft 365 account through your school, try logging in with your credentials. You might have access to the
full experience!)
