Identify how words and phrases supply meaning to a story, create your own narrative, and build an underground world in Minecraft.

After reading the story with your class, try these lesson ideas:

Have students explore the Fantastic Mr. Fox Minecraft world. Challenge them to find scenes from the book. You can use this list to find the coordinates for all of the points of interest. Ask students how the world is different from the text or how they pictured it in their mind.
Write a newspaper article from the animal’s perspective about the events leading to the founding of the town.
Have students imagine the events following the book. Use the underground build area and have your class create a village for the animals to live.
Use the animal town the students build as a writing prompt to a write short story detailing a day in the life of the animals living underground town.
Dig a full tunnel from the Fox home to the three farms.
