I'm an author of novels and comics, including sci-fi/fantasy chapter books for kids that take place as if Minecraft is real. The books follow the adventures of Stevie, an 11-year-old boy from Minecraft, and Maison, a creative sixth grade girl and Minecraft fan he meets after finding a portal to Earth. The two travel the various worlds, always finding something new and exciting. While including plenty of video game thrills, the books also talk about real issues kids face, including cyberbullying and going to a new school. The books have been called called "EXCITING" by Forbes, "RECOMMENDED READING" by School Library Journal, and have been spotlighted by The Today Show website, Sci Fi Magazine, Barnes & Noble Kids Blog, MTV and more. Each book has a standalone story, but because they build on one after another, I recommend reading them from the beginning to get the most out of them. They go in this order: Escape from the Overworld, Attack on the Overworld, The Rise of Herobrine, Down Into the Nether, The Armies of Herobrine, Battle with the Wither, Adventure Against the Endermen, Mysteries of the Overworld, Danger in the Jungle Temple, Clash in the Underwater World, Last of the Ender Crystal, and Return of the Ender Dragon. I think literacy is a basic necessity for empowering and enabling people, and I love helping kids find books that speak to them.
