This is our entry to Mars Home Planet Urbanization Concept Challenge
The Urbanization of Mars
Our ultimate goal is to have 1 million people from Earth, living, working and moving around on Mars.
Sometime, in the not too distant future, one million humans will be living in the Mars Valley (Mawrth Vallis) on planet Mars. The focus of the Planet Mars Challenge is for your team to conceptualize and then design the urban areas supporting these future martians. You will be using Minecraft Education Edition as a platform for designing an urban area for one million people on planet Mars. You are allowed to supply or build with most known materials, though integrating systems that utilize materials found on Mars is always ideal.
Define: Use the resources to learn about life conditions on Planet Mars
Why does Mars capture you imagination? What life lessons about sustanability from Earth will you take with you? What are the first steps to set up a civilization based on smart cities?
Ideate: Before starting to build your model you need to develop the concepts and draft ideas that you present on the project page
Our first Design Challenge is focused only on concepts, meaning that we are looking for ideas, diagrams, and sketches. These do not have to be fully rendered ideas (that will come later). We want your best thinking first.
Prototype: Create a 3D model depicting your invention for a smart city
This is done in Minecraft Education Edition and can be a concept for one living quarter or the full urbanization
Evolve: Submit a project brief that describe inventive solutions to the challenges of urbanization of Planet Mars
In the project brief you should discuss the benefits of a smart city and how you created sustainable living
Students will reflect on how the design of the living quarter or urbanization will benefit sustainable living on planet Mars and discuss possible setbacks
The project brief should include at least one aerial photo and a screenrecording where the students are giving a tour of design features
