Do you have just a small area and cannot perceive how it could be transformed?
How can you explore the potetnial of the theatre space for your production?
Welcome!
We will be enjoying this learning experience in small groups so we can build on each others ideas and collaborate!
First, get into groups of 3 - 4 designers. Give yourselves a team name.
Ok, team let's talk about yourproduction.
Talk to you teacher about your ideas. It is time to get to work drawing yourstage design
The Hand-drawn Layout
Take your time on this. Usually the first idea is no wherenear the best so try different ideas. Use graph paper measuring 32 x 32 squares. Design your stage using pencil and ruler, keeping your eraser handy! Here is an example. https://gyazo.com/71bc9ae43d035157ca5faf0d32b50681
Building the Model
Open Minecraft Education Edition. Log in using your account details.
Your teacher will open and share a world called Theatre. It is a flat world with rooms representing the stage and seating area. Once you are on, please choose one room and build there only.
The rooms are 32 x 32 blocks, representing 8m x 8m. Each block is 25cm.
3. Using your awesome skills in Minecraft building, make your set! Add your colour scheme and all the features of your set:- - the stage/performance area - the seating/audience area - lighting - cameras - backdrops - props
Once complete, you are ready to go!
Go to the structure block in the front corner of the building and export your 3D model.
Take Photos!
Using your camera, feel free to take photos from any angle. Remember to fly up a bit as you are the size of a small child in this build. Your photos can be downloaded as a zip file and then you can use them for presentations and production guides.
Painting in Paint 3D
You can now add extra detail by painting onto the model.
Share!
Upload your model to Remix 3D and share with your class and the world.
3D Print
Soon you will be able to 3D print the model.
Did you show understanding in the design and production pathways?
Does your stage meet the requirements of the audience, actors and scenes?
How well did team collaboration assist in the success of the project?
Can you explain how you designed and created the stage set using the new technologies?
