• Analysing a line on a Cartesian plane to determine it
• Plot lines on a Cartesian Plane.

### Guiding Ideas

1. Plot points in a straight line going through the origin
2. Use the gradient formula m = rise/run
3. Allow students to see the pattern y = mx
4. What happens if the line does not go through the origin?
5. Show how the y intercept works.
6. Practice making equations form lines and plotting equations.

### Student Activities

1.Watch the Video Pixel Power! Part 2. It will take the students through the concept of plotting a line to the use of the equation format y = mx + c

2. Students make their own cartesian plane and make a series of lines in their own choice of blocks. Using signs, place the equation next to a block on the ground representing that line. For example, make a diamond block line. Place a diamond block on the ground with a sign on it showing the equation.

3. Give students equations and challenge them to plot them!

• Be able to plot lines on a Cartesian Plane
• Be able to calculate the gradient of all lines
• Be able to determine the y intercept of a line.
• Be able to create the line equation using the gradient and y intercept.
• Be able to plot a line form it's equation.
