Learning Objectives

  • Students will meet with experts who will offer advice and concerns about pipeline development
  • Students will cap an open oil well and begin pipeline route planning as a team
  • Students will engineer a safe, non-intrusive and cost-effective pipeline from the il source to the processing town.
  • Students will employ critical thought when adding extra safety aspects near rivers and mountains.

Guiding Ideas

Can students design and create a safe and effective resource pipeline?

Can students empathize with local villagers who call the pipeline route "home" ?

Can students creatively navigate obstacles such as rivers and mountains with the pipeline considering the cost impacts?

Can students speak about how this lesson applies to their own country and lives?

Student Activities

Students will meet with experts, workers and villagers before planning the pipeline.

Students will explore the suggested pipeline route and apply changes if needed.

Students will cap the open oil well and begin pipeline construction.

Students will use creativity and critical thinking to navigate the obstacles met by the pipeline.

Students may communicate the pipeline route via an offline or in-game plan with their teacher and then successfully follow that route.

Performance Expectations
