Learning Objectives

  • Students will learn about the ethics involved in Moon use by humans.
  • Students will learn about mining Moon minerals
  • Students will learn about NASA's and Roscosmos' new LOP-G Moon base project and have their chance to design all or some of the LOP-G
  • Students will design Lunar living facilities and modern lunar transport designs

Guiding Ideas

This STEM lesson is super modern and teaches aspect about our relationship with the Moon in an engaging way. Celebrity figures including Elon Musk and Neil Armstrong lead students through critical thinking challenges both of an individual nature and team nature. By the time students graduate from the secret Moon Base Beta program they will know far more about the current issue facing humanity when it comes to our Moon.

Take some time to look up with students and learn about that ball of dust in our night sky which is far more important to our future.

Student Activities

Students complete 6 stations hosted by celeb figures as they ask heavy questions about the ethics of Moon use and demand creativity from our students design wise. Kids of all ages can complete each of the 6 stages and at the end graduate from the Moon Base Beta Program with far more knowledge about the Moon and our plans for it!

Performance Expectations

Students will move through the stations 1-6 alone or in groups. They will try their hand at each of the requested missions that may require waiting for a group to help at some stations. It is meant to be a one class exploration but some of these stations allow for prolonged exploration and effort of a creative nature.
