Example of a mapped journey
Old fashioned GPS – It’s a map! Trail goers did not have GPS devices or fancy maps that identified the nearest fast food restaurant…because neither of those existed! Use this list of places that the Pioneers visited to chart their journey on a current US map. For an extra challenge, note the elevation changes along the trail by using a topographical map.
Maps have their own language and beauty.
