Guiding Ideas

Professional Development Workshop Description for Gr.7-12 Teachers & Elementary/Secondary TLs

Minecraft: Education Edition (M:EE) is a powerful tool in our digital learning arsenal available to all staff and students in our school board as a Microsoft client. This open-ended exploration, construction, and problem-solving game provides a technology-enhanced learning environment that Teacher Librarians (TLs) and homeroom/rotary teachers alike can leverage to provide students with powerful and engaging opportunities to collaborate with their peers, demonstrate their understanding of content, present ideas in unique and appealing ways, and solve engaging problems in a simulated environment that promotes critical thinking, creative writing, and STEM/STEAM responses.

Enduring Learning & Essential Questions

Minecraft: Education Edition provides K12 educators of all subject areas with great potential to enhance student learning and teacher assessment of that learning.

1. Why should K12 teachers seriously consider incorporating Minecraft: Education Edition into their planning for students' learning and assessment opportunities?

2. How can M:EE be leveraged in your context and teaching portfolio for student learning and assessment?
