Learning Objectives

  • Students will hone their building skills within Minecraft: Education Edition.
  • Students will research and annotate definitions of common computer terminology.
  • Students will work together to create stations both defining and demonstrating (when possible) the meaning and function of each term.

Guiding Ideas

When people communicate about computers, what words do they use in their discussion?

How can a computer term be demonstrated for other learners within Minecraft: Education Edition?

Student Activities

Students will randomly choose a computer term from the classtools.net randomizer at https://www.classtools.net/random-name-picker/71_RZ6RFC (link in "Can't Choose?" in NPC introduction "Welcome to Jargon Gardens." They will research the term and complete the large chalkboard  with that information at the numbered and labeled location inworld.

Performance Expectations

Students will download the mcworld file, open it, and host with other students if collaboration is possible. If not, they will complete as many of the terms' descriptions in the manner of the first example. They will have fun doing so and will be careful and proud of their work.
