This is a pre-built world if you'd like all your students to start with the same world when constructing their homes. This is an optional download.
DAY01 Minecraft Recipe Math
This uses Minecraft recipes to review ratios.
DAY02 Minecraft Transformations
This helps students practice navigating in Minecraft and reviews some basic concepts within transformational geometry.
DAY03 Minecraft Area and Volume
This gives students a chance to build, compare, and contrast areas and volumes.
DAY04 Minecraft Perimeter and Area
This provides an opportunity for students to measure using block width as a unit when using/comparing perimeter and area.
DAY05 Minecraft Stair Transformations
This helps students learn about transformations while also learning some advanced building techniques using stairs.
DAY06 - DAY10 Minecraft House Project - Written Assignment
This is the basis of the project where students will build a home. It includes directions as well as grading rubrics.
This project exceeded expectations. Each one day activity helped students stretch their knowledge of Minecraft use as well as reviewed core concepts for Geometry.
The final home design came with conditions to keep students on task and to keep the quality bar high. The big overarching question is how does Geometry get applied in building and playing games like Minecraft?
