Guiding Ideas

All the following lessons are approximately 45-60 minutes, depending on how much time you give students to explore the coding activities.

Student Activities

The purpose of this unit is to explore new coding types and how they can assist students when building in Minecraft through code. By the end of this unit, your students will have designed and coded a road network, buildings, and houses in their Minecraft city using the PLAYER, AGENT, and BLOCKS coding features.

Performance Expectations

By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

  • Create multiple lines of code with an intended outcome.
  • Merge multiple types of coding features to create one outcome.
  • Understand how code can be used to create large-scale actions that would manually take longer.
  • Use block code and/or JavaScript as a coding language to change their Minecraft world.
