Learning Objectives

  • -To learn about people and cultures of different countries and link them to the global world. -To practice a foreign language in a motivating way which encourages them to learn more things in order to communicate. -To incorporate different IT tools effectively.

Guiding Ideas

This lesson is a part of an eTwinning project called “Link to the World from Europe”, a global project in which teachers and students from all over the world connect. Maria Josè Giavedoni, a MIE teacher from Argentina designed this project and invited Monica Boccoli, my colleague, and I to join it. We opened the project plan in the eTwinning platform to coordinate and collaborate with the European teachers.ETwinning is the community for schools in Europe where we can communicate, collaborate, develop projects and share our experiences.

Our pupils wanted to greet their Italian partners of the project in an original way. So they thought to build their towns’ coats of arms as 3D pixel artwork.

Student Activities

-Research on the web your towns’ coats of arms of those of partners cities or schools.

-Unplugged activity: choose one of the coats of arms; draw it on a graph paper, creating a draft of your picture.
