Learning Objectives

  • Collaboratively design and create their own Cathedral in line with their own research about Cathedrals.

Guiding Ideas

How will you design your Cathedral?

What you will call your Cathedral?

What Saint you will name it after?

How you will lay out your floor plan?

How will you present this as a Cathedral that should be built?

Student Activities

Students to:

  1. Research Cathedrals around the world using Google street view
  2. In groups create a plan for their own Cathedral - making sure to include all signs and symbols that would be found in a Cathedral
  3. After presenting plan to teacher students can then find a good place to build in the world assigned by the teacher. Ideally they need to build on a hill for prominence.
  4. Once built students will need to share and present their Cathedral
