What do all the organelles in cells do? What do they look like?
This map is a 3D representation of an animal cell created in Minecraft with supportive 'researchers' throughout that help students gather information about the organelles, their roles, and how they might be able to remember what it is they do.
There is a complete lesson plan/outline in the "External References" section but below is the quick version.
Students take a tour through the virtual animal cell, talking to experts about each organelle, and fill in a real world booklet (also in the "External References" section). Students take images that represent the organelles for them for utilising in their revision.
As an indication it took my students around an hour to complete this activity fully.
Students will explore the virtual representation of the cell.
Students will collect and interpret information about each organelle and write this information in a summary booklet.
