We are over the moon to bring you the Chase the Clouds Update (version 1.21.91) for Minecraft Education, which includes exciting improvements to OneDrive cloud storage, multiplayer, and Code Builder. We have also added new features from the past three Minecraft Bedrock updates (up to version 1.21.90) such as Bundles, the Pale Garden biome, and the reorganized Creative Inventory. And if you haven’t experienced the pure delight of the Happy Ghast, just wait! Or ask your students to show you.

Learn how to update your version of Minecraft Education here. Meanwhile, here's a look at what’s new in Chase the Clouds:

MakeCode & Code Builder IDE: Coding has never been more dynamic! The latest changes add new file read/write superpowers with MakeCode, and gently wave a bittersweet goodbye to Tynker as a supported IDE. Heads-up to Python pros—Python Notebooks will be leaving soon, but not before January 2026, so there’s still plenty of time to move all your Python projects to MakeCode.

World Creation: Who doesn’t love a good makeover? The Create and Edit World interface now makes it a breeze to start new adventures and tweak world settings. Educator options are clearly separated, and you’ll find seven new flat world presets ready for your creative touch.

Cloud Storage, Multiplayer & Coding: Invite friends, code together, and collaborate with a smile—multiplayer sign-in and connection processes are now more reliable than ever, and coding infrastructure has been upgraded for greater stability and performance. Building massive masterpieces? Now you can save bigger worlds to the cloud! Uploads and downloads are speedier, with fewer hiccups and smoother skies all around.

Chase the Skies features: Experience the wondrous flying mount and soar through the skies by nurturing your ghastling with care. Build high into the sky, leash a caravan of camels together, uncover a new music disc, find wandering friends with the Player Locator bar, and more. A gentle reminder that Hardcore mode and Vibrant Visuals are still cloud-dreams for another day—patience, dear explorers!

Spring to Life features: Nature lovers, rejoice! Meet a menagerie of new mob variants—warm and cold flavors of cows, pigs, and chickens—that now roam the fields. You’ll spot firefly bushes lighting up the night, leafy particles drifting like confetti, cactus flowers blooming, leaf litter crunching underfoot, and hear a chorus of new biome sounds that make the world feel alive.

The Garden Awakens features: Let your imagination blossom in The Garden Awakens update! Discover “Bundles” for tidying up your treasures, wander into the newly unearthed Pale Garden biome, and marvel at blocks like Pale Oak, Creaking Heart, and sticky-sweet Resin. Curious mobs called Creakings creep through these lands, and the Creative Inventory is now perfectly pruned and grouped for ease of use. Chemistry enthusiasts, rejoice—your favorite items now appear in Creative Inventory too!

Spectator Mode: Ever wanted to float through walls, peek inside secret tunnels, or tour a student’s epic creation? Spectator Mode lets you swoop and soar, gazing upon your world’s wonders without leaving a trace or disturbing a single block. It’s a bird’s-eye view with a side of magic.

So, whether you’re nurturing a garden, wrangling a Happy Ghast, or composing your next code masterpiece, there’s never been a better time to dive into Minecraft Education. Let curiosity be your compass and creativity your guide—the clouds await, the gardens bloom, and the skies call out for you to chase them. As always, let us know if you have any issues or feedback.  Happy trails!
