Learning Objectives

  • Learn about facts, symbols and rituals related to the Jewish Passover
  • Learn about life as a child in the Palestine region in the historical time of Jesus

Guiding Ideas

  • What would it have been like to live as a young child in Palestine in the historical era of Jesus?
  • What are the rituals and symbols of Passover?
  • What are some of the jobs, hobbies and industries of people in the Palestine region in the historical era of Jesus?
  • What would it have been like to explore Herod's Temple in Jerusalem in the time of Jesus?

Student Activities

A comprehensive Word document is included in the download package. This contains writer prompts and cues for students to follow throughout the world. The world presents a sequential, structured journey through biomes and structures that attempt to accurately reflect buildings, industry and landmarks around the time of Jesus.

Areas include: fishing village, typical home, shepherding hills, olive and grape grove, burial caves, Jerusalem, markets stalls and Herods Temple, Jerusalem. Within Herods Temple there are many scattered artefacts and facts based on the rituals of the Passover. This forms part of the narrative within the world.

At the end of the world journey students arrive at a Bibliotecha tower which is a symbolic bibliography of resources and credits. From this final point students may teleport directly back to any of the stations and biomes in the world, giving them the opportunity to freely explore areas of interest.

Performance Expectations

  1. Students will collect PDF copies of research/source documents from NPCs throughout the world.
  2. Students will reflect on their journey and experiences using the writing prompts in the attached workbook.
  3. Students will take pictures from the world (exported portfolio) to support and embellish their diary entries.
