Learning Objectives

Guiding Ideas

In this Challenge learners will research famous landmarks or features of Wales before designing and building their own landmarks in a Minecraft: Education Edition Garden of Wales.

Using a flat world, learners will create a garden with 4 areas of their choice to showcase “their” Wales.

Introductory & Essential Questions: 

  • How would you show what Wales means to you?
  • Why are these aspects important to you?
  • How would you justify your choices?

Student Activities

The Challenge is made up of three distinct steps that will take approx. 2+ hrs.

Step One

  • Learners discuss what Wales means to them and record their ideas
  • Research aspects based on ideas and choose four areas to include in their own Garden of Wales

Step Two

  • Use research and ideas to create a scale plan to build the Garden of Wales in Minecraft: Education Edition
  • Learners use plan to build the Garden of Wales in Minecraft: Education Edition in four separate areas

Step Three

  • Learners create a video walkthrough, explaining their thinking, to share their Garden of Wales with a wider audience
