I really think command blocks would be a very valuable educational tool. The uses for them are so broad!
Personally I was interested in some ideas I have seen for making a store of some sort and using some kind of currency gained through a set action, for furthering my students knowledge of how a community works, and how to gain and use currency in a functioning community.

+1 to command blocks! (ok, +1,000,000)
November 18, 2016 6:35 AM
Yes, yes, YES! I'm confident this is something that WILL be added in the future. Love your idea for using them in a store. Is there a more formal way to request features, or are these forums the best way?

So far this is the only "official" thing I've found, however I imagine there is an email that one could send requests to. Possibly via contact options on this very website?

How about we ask for commands and scoreboard commands first...

Scoreboards have been standard with Command Blocks for a long time. I know the goal is parity with Java so I'm guessing that when Command Blocks are launched it will be the inclusive 1.10 + command blocks that will be available.

Of course! That would be a great start. I'm no minecraft expert so, I assumed the commands and scoreboard commands would come with the command blocks.

I think command blocks are coming up quickly on the list of development adds. So we shouldn't have to wait long :D

I'm also interested in using command blocks with Minecraft Education. Anyone who knows the current state of this feature request?

This would be so great!

Absolutely! Most of my students are crying out for this too, and it would expand the possibilities enormously!

This is a needed function, along with several other features that have already been solved by the mod community, in order to make Minecraft Education Edition educational. Currently this is a fun game, but not very educational. It would be nice to have an estimated timeline on the release of new features for planning purposes.

Hi Chad and everyone commenting on this thread. Happy to announce that Command Blocks are coming in the near future, and are being worked on not only for Education Edition but also other similar versions of the game. As soon as they are complete, of course they will be in the following release of Education Edition for everyone to leverage in lessons.

Downloaded most recent update (version 18.104.22.168) and was under the impression command blocks were included, but they're not there. Has anyone else made this discovery? Does anyone know why?

Hi, Any idea when the following release will be launched?
March 29, 2017 7:37 PM
The Windows 10 version of Minecraft - version 1.05 - was released yesterday (March 28); one of the additions to it is Command Blocks! This is the version that the Education Edition is based on, so I'm hoping this means that the Minecraft: Education Edition also receives an update with Command Blocks very soon. As you have all already said, Command Blocks open up an entire new world of options. Here's hoping we get it soon!
I was playing around with Windows 10 Minecraft (not the Education Edition) and it looks like /scoreboard commands aren't added just yet, but I was very happy to see the Command Blocks are very similar (if not the exact same) as the ones in the PC Java-based version.
